As the name suggests, this design is more compact than a comparable capacity of an ordinary paper band filter and occupies less floor area.
Also, this unit can retain taller column of coolant or oil, which can apply more gravitational pressure to obtain finer filtration levels & better use of paper.
This filter is extensively used on grinding or honing machines & also for filtering cast iron or aluminum chips from coolant on all types of machines, where coolant filtration is critical.
Filtration levels of 5 to 50 microns are possible.
Manual indexing paper band filters: Here the indexing ( linear movement ) of the used paper is done manually using a handle & fresh paper is pulled from the roll.
Auto indexing paper band filters: Here the indexing ( linear movement ) of the used paper is done automatically & fresh paper is pulled from the roll.
These are very powerful & the magnetic drum here is a plain cylinder. These are suitable for small chips & the chips that fall in the collection bin are almost free from coolant.
Hence coolant wastage is reduced. Rare earth magnetic separators are relatively smaller in size.
These are made with both Grooved Magnetic Drum & Plain Magnetic Drum
Grooved magnetic drum gives higher magnetic surface area to attract coarser chips or particles & can be used for short, sharp chips also.
Plain magnetic drum separators with ferrite magnets are used for powder type chips
Magnetic candle is directly dipped and left into the coolant tank from the top cover plate through a cutout.
The magnetic candle absorbs the magnetic particle chips which are present in the coolant.
The chips are subsequently removed by taking the candle out of the coolant tank and by wiping the chips off.
